Proposed to at New Year? Time to organise that Hen do treasure hunt then!

Posted on: 02/01/2023

So...did you get engaged over Christmas? Maybe when you are reading this you have just been proposed to on New Year`s Eve and everything is just sinking in. In fact, 37% of proposals happen between November and January. Wedding planning can start in earnest. The most popular time for the wedding after a proposal is 12-18 months, with less than a year the next most likely timescale.
On average there are 275,000 weddings a year in the UK. However, that figure has been skewed one way and then the other due to Covid. 2023 is still expected to show a much higher number than the average as delayed weddings continue to take place. Now, Black Cat Treasure Hunts` website is probably not the best place to find good deals on invitation cards or advice on flower arrangements (although having said that I do know someone in the Brighton area!) What I am an expert on is Hen do treasure hunts...treasure hunts in Brighton and of course, Brighton hen do treasure hunts!
Hen parties, hen weekends or hen do`s...however you prefer to term them have become an essential and accepted part of the pre-wedding rituals. Brighton is a definite magnet as the choice of venue for these celebrations. Here is a check list of just why this makes sense and how Black Cat Treasure Hunts can become a go-to part of your hen do organising:
Brighton has lots of hen party accommodation to suit all party sizes. Black Cat Treasure Hunts is not only recommended by a number of hotels in the city, but also, significantly, by Crown Gardens holiday homes. I have been in attendance to organise a large number of hen party treasure hunts and so often it is a Crown Gardens `hen house` in Brighton to start from. Trafalgar St, near the Royal Pavilion, the top part of Kemptown and Sillwood Rd are popular and provide great places to start a route from.
There is a broad range of attractions in Brighton from the North Laine to The Lanes, the Royal Pavilion to the i360, Brighton Pier to the Theatre Royal, but many hen do weekend groups arriving on a Friday evening decide to have a night in at their accommodation. The next step on Saturday is to discover more about the chosen venue. You could book a tour guide or wander aimlessly around as a large group and there are lots of fun activities on offer of course. A Black Cat Treasure Hunt is personalised to ensure that you discover all the best places to see though, whilst also maximising the time you have. Start at your accommodation and finish at a recommended bar or restaurant.
A lot of hen party groups have one activity on Saturday morning and another in the afternoon followed by a meal out in the evening and a night out on the town. Getting a group made up of sub groups from different parts of the bride to be`s life to bond quickly whilst having fun exploring a new place can really help the whole weekend go smoothly. My angle on this is to include information and photos provided by everyone attending into the final draft of the hen party treasure hunt.
Getting fair value for your budget can be critical as there are a lot of expenses associated with accommodation and food/drink of course. Prices for different activities vary wildly and yet one that will entertain you for a whole morning or afternoon is not always the cheapest. Water based activities can range from £35 to £125 pp whilst cocktail making back inside will set you back £35-£40 pp. A trip up on the i360 tower will be from £18 for 25 mins. Great whilst it lasts though! Treasure hunt prices vary too, but at £10 pp (to approx. £15pp if organised on the day by Black Cat himself) a truly personalised Black Cat treasure hunt that lasts 2 hours (+ relaxation time in the pub afterwards or back at your accommodation) is truly exceptional value. Alternative treasure hunts that are cheaper will not be personalised and yet there are much more expensive ones too.
So...congratulations once again on your engagement!  It`s time to appoint a hen party organiser and decide where and when you want to get away. After that it`s your chance to choose the style of your weekend and what to include.
