Team Building in Brighton. A Black Cat Guide to Success.

Two companies who recently completed team building treasure hunts in Brighton took very different approaches to organising their stay, but both achieved successful conclusions. This made me look at whether there were consistent guidelines to be given when choosing team building in Brighton. Here is Black Cat Treasure Hunts 5 point guide to what you should consider when you are coming to Brighton for your event and how I can help make it easier for you!
1. When to stay: Brighton is of course one of the premier places to visit during the tourist season in Summer. This will mean that everything is open to you, but you should look to book your accommodation further in advance than normal. Accessibility to certain parts of the city are occasionally affected by big, annual events. Pride is in early August and the Brighton marathon and half marathons will cause temporary road closures for example. The influx of people will mean nailing down where you stay is a priority to be done early .
Black Cat can help by: Fitting a team building treasure hunt on any day and any time of day to fit around your requirements and any other restrictions. I can also help by advising you on big events that may be occuring at the same time as you are planning to visit.
2. Where to stay vs Travel Arrangements: If you are coming from outside Brighton for your teambuilding treasure hunt and are planning to stay overnight it is worth knowing a few key factors. There are excellent hotels spread throughout the city, but with the biggest concentration of them along the seafront. Some of the hotels offer car parking options, but if you are coming by train then you may need to get taxis to your seafront hotel as it is a 15 minute walk. Alternatively, one of the best value car parks in the city is just behind the train station..excellent for one day visits.
Black Cat can help by: Advising you of walk times to your hotel from the station or give you the best website that reviews the hotels (and other accommodation) and their positioning in the city.
3. When you are in Brighton: A teambuilding treasure hunt is the perfect accompaniment to a meal in the hotel or in the city and could be combined with a specific attraction or two. A Black Cat treasure hunt will put together a great route that allows you to explore and discover the city alongside your colleagues over a period of two hours. It can start and finish at your hotel or any othe venue to suit. You may have considered the i360 or Brighton Pavilion or a boat trip from the Marina as an additional activity.
Black Cat can help by: Giving you clear timing guidelines to help you put together an itinerary. If you have a tight schedule then I can work around that by finishing the hunt where you need to be afterwards and doing the marking/judging whilst you are busy with something else. The other day I sat in on a company discussing best practices for remote communications whilst I awarded points for the best video of a historical re-construction taken on the treasure hunt route!
4. Added extras: It`s the little things that count in terms of making a team building trip go well.So true!
Black Cat can help by: Arranging reserved spaces, if needed, at the end point of the treasure hunt for the socialising and marking/judging/presentation of prizes.
I include fun prizes as your `treasure` to all the teams taking part. Of course your company may want to add to that with some bottles of wine or chocolates or gift vouchers!
Black Cat Treasure Hunts is a partner of VisitBrighton. As such we can put you in touch with the best people for making your trip to Brighton go really well.
5. Benefits Going Forward: Of course the idea of having a team building or team bonding treasure hunt is to achieve just that. I recommend teams of 5/6 (although I have accomodated larger..and smaller teams) which you should choose in advance of the day to ensure the best mix of people in each team.Once you have reconnected with old colleagues, or even met new colleagues for the first time, on a Black Cat treasure hunt then you will have formed bonds for the future as you look back on the fun.
Black Cat can help by: Offering treasure hunt routes across Sussex and in London if you enjoyed the team building benefits, but wanted to explore somewhere else.Similarly, you might want to stay in or return to Brighton and try out a different style of team building treasure hunt or a different route in the city. Black Cat Treasure Hunts has a Murder/Mystery treasure hunt with original stories every time. for something different, but beware...you are the suspects! We can also put together new routes in every corner of Brighton (and Hove!).Around the county of Sussex we have great routes in many places including in Chichester, Lewes, Rye, Worthing, Arundel and Eastbourne to name a few.
So don`t delay...contact me (Tim.. or.. I do answer to Black Cat too) on info@blackcattreasurehunts.co.uk or 07445818996 to get your team building treasure hunt booking underway today. It`s not too late to set one up to co-incide with your Christmas party event either.
