10 Amazing Facts And How They Relate To A Black Cat Treasure Hunt.

By Tim Carter (Owner of Black Cat Treasure Hunts)

I love a fun fact! So...when I saw an article about 100 amazing, but true facts I knew I had to read it and decide how a Black Cat treasure hunt compared or could use the information. Here are ten of the best extremely illuminating and interesting results.

1. The average person will spend six months of their life waiting for red lights to turn green.
First of all a Black Cat treasure hunt is full of questions and challenges to consider, and you will not notice the time you spend at any traffic lights you may have to cross. Secondly, a number of the treasure hunts on the website do not pass a single traffic light! For example: Brighton Seafront and Brighton: In, Out and Around The Lanes.

2. Cherophobia is the word for the irrational fear of being happy.
People who suffer from this are often afraid of doing anything that might lead to happiness. Black Cat Treasure Hunts will solve this for you. You can log in and start a treasure hunt within minutes or for personalised treasure hunts you can book Black Cat himself to be present to organise everything for you and do all the marking. You don`t need to do anything apart from enjoy the event.

3. Nearly 30,000 rubber ducks were lost at sea in an accident in 1992 and are still turning up today.
The answers to all Black Cat treasure hunts are regularly checked and will not only emerge 30 years later! I do like a rubber duck challenge on occasions though and they have been known to surface in the occasional celebration treasure hunt.

4. Marie Curie`s notebooks are still radioactive.
Black Cat`s notebooks aren`t! All Black Cat treasure hunts are checked for safety and accessibility. Any potential difficult areas are mentioned, and alternatives referred to. You are responsible for your own safety during the treasure hunt, but I can provide a risk assessment if required.

5. The World`s largest pyramid isn`t in Egypt.
It`s actually in Mexico! The only proper pyramid I have seen in England is on one of Black Cat`s driving treasure hunts, in the village of Brightling. (honestly!)

6. An Australian once tried to sell New Zealand on eBay but was stopped once the bid reached $3000.
As far as I know a Black Cat treasure hunt has not been for sale on eBay. Prices are considered very competitive. For personalised treasure hunts you can get a quote by contacting me (Tim) on info@blackcattreasurehunts.co.uk

7. The city of Boring has a sister city called Dull.
Boring is in Oregon, USA whilst Dull is in Perthshire, Scotland. Black Cat Treasure Hunts has no ambitions at present to be associated with either of these two places. The majority of our treasure hunts are in Sussex, but I have been known to venture out to neighbouring counties and London on occasions.

8. It`s illegal to own only one guinea pig in Switzerland.
This is something to do with them getting depressed if they are alone. It`s not illegal in England to have only done one Black Cat treasure hunt. However, you may get feelings of depression and loneliness if that is the case. I am sure I can offer you a little incentive for a repeat booking!

9. The first known written use of "OMG" was in a 1917 letter to Winston Churchill.
OMG was used in an email to Black Cat Treasure Hunts for the first time in 2022. This was as a response to how personalised the first draft of a hen party treasure hunt was. For equally excited and exuberant reactions, check the testimonials page.

10. Brunch was originally invented to cure hangovers.
Dating back to 1895 it was proposed as an alternative to Sunday lunch for those who had a wild Saturday night and were waking up around 12. I think a few hen party treasure hunts I have done the marking for this year have followed a brunch. Some say they are the ideal activity to re-invigorate you.(others having the liquid brunch version have still had fun, but maybe less thorough!)
