A Modern Story of a Team Building Treasure Hunt.

Well it looked like her. It certainly sounded like her. I mean those Zoom meeting calls on my laptop are not always perfectly clear in vision or acoustically, but I`m pretty confident it`s her. We`ve never met of course, but seeing as I have been at the company for five years I really should make an effort.
She`s talking to another woman I`ve never met or seen or heard speak before. Apparently the second woman only joined a week ago, whilst Zoe...that`s the name of the first woman...has been with the company for a year now. Zoe seems to have some excellent marketing ideas and I think her team might have won the Zoom quiz back in January, but that seems ages ago now. Apart from that I can`t tell you one thing about her. Where did she work before?..has she got any brothers or sisters?..does she prefer tea or coffee?
Today is the first company team building/team bonding (call it what you like) session we have had face to face in eighteen months. The majority of people have been working at home, but now we are filtering back into the office. This treasure hunt seems like a good way to meet and get to know people in the same company that we have never met before!
We have been split into 4 teams of five that were arranged before the day. I see that I am with people from all different departments including Zoe from marketing. Just for fun we had to answer a few questions about ourselves(* see note at bottom) and send in a photo which I see have been worked into the questions and challenges to be completed during the hunt. This will be a good way to relax and enjoy ourselves.
We have two hours to explore and discover the city and answer the questions. It is not a race to the end and we don`t need to read a map. Thank goodness for that! No technology to go wrong or be controlled by the head of IT! There seems to be a chance for all of us to get involved and have fun along the way.
We have been told that the marking and judging, of the answers that we give and photos/video clips  taken on route, will be done by Mr Black Cat himself! Wow! Nice that it is done by someone independent and he said that the prizes `spared no expense`. I detected some sarcasm though and predict that maybe the winners will not be walking off with an all expenses paid trip to The Maldives!  I think the company will add in a few bottles of wine, but basically it means we can enjoy the event and have fun getting to know our team during the hunt and have some banter with the others at the end...wherever that is. Ah yes..I see now..it is at a pub on the seafront!
This short story is typical of companies returning to their offices from mainly home working.
