I am often asked where I write personalised treasure hunts and what are some of the interesting features of places I have been to.  It is true that a lot of people have not visited or are not too familiar with the place they have chosen for their special treasure hunt. I think this adds to the fun but it`s always handy to have re-assurance that you have made an excellent choice. For hen party treasure hunts, team building treasure hunts, foreign student treasure hunts and birthday treasure hunts, here is a taster of where you could choose and what to expect.
Sussex is Black Cat Treasure Hunts` main hangout, but not exclusively so. A Brighton treasure hunt may be the top choice, but from Rye in the East to Chichester in the West there are some other fun filled treasure hunt adventures to be had.

*Hastings: Recently I have had a flurry of bookings in Hastings. The `Old Town` section part of Hastings is my favourite because it has a selection of quirky and unusual things to see. Of course, it has a Shipwrecks Museum and a Fishermen`s Museum being by the sea. These museums are compact and full of fun questions and free to enter. Find out about the Winkle King or what types of alcohol have been washed ashore from Hastings's wreckages!
Hastings has odd sculptures too including silvery sea creatures holding chess pieces as `a nod` to Hastings as an international chess venue. There are skull and crossbones, lots of information boards (most with French translations alongside) and a waving bear too!
The enquiries I have had included ones from France, Germany and a birthday treasure hunt for a 75-year-old. I think this shows there is something for everyone here. Smugglers..yes..propellers from shot down airplanes...yes...more fish and chips venues than you know what to do with...yes!

*Chichester: Whilst Hastings is currently this year`s `outside Brighton` destination for a treasure hunt, last year it was Chichester. From squawking parrots to eye-catchingly tall cathedral steeple`s, hidden gunpowder to theatre related sculptures, Chichester should always be on your list if you are considering a trip to West Sussex for your celebration.
Team building treasure hunts need variety, a little bit of street art, a park with good question options, and, in Chichester two Ostriches that may be Dodo`s or...maybe they are Ostriches! Intrigued? You should be. A Chichester treasure hunt has a lot going for it. Large places to park, pleasant pubs to finish at and more than a hint of a Roman past. Why not make Chichester your treasure hunt choice in 2026? Actually, why not make Chichester your 2025 treasure hunt choice?!

*Alfriston: The smallest place in Black Cat Treasure Hunts portfolio of treasure hunts. This little village definitely punches above its weight. Ideal for a social club outing and also a hen party group on the lookout for a calmer, more genteel choice. Alfriston treasure hunts will surprise you with National Trust buildings, a stunning church and views, smuggling tales (you are in Sussex after all), a river with the occasional Swan visiting and a fine selection of pubs for such a small place. I also recommend Alfriston for an international visiting group wanting to discover and explore an archetypal English village with a long history.

*V&A Museum/British Museum: Black Cat Treasure hunts` personalised treasure hunts are perfect choices for its top three parts of London...Westminster, Camden, and Shoreditch. However, sometimes a birthday treasure hunt can fit neatly within the interests of a birthday holder by being held in a museum. Where better than one of the two listed above.
The British Museum has the famous Rosetta Stone ...centaurs...crouching lions...opportunities for dodgy jokes relating to Grecian urns (!) a bronze Venus and gladiators. This treasure hunt is a great, personalised birthday choice.
The V&A has an incredible range of things to see too. Mythological statues, Tippoo`s Tiger (look it up), magical carpets from the Middle East, photographic and art exhibitions and glass and ceramics too. I can weave your story and interests around the museum.

*Lucky Dip: Black Cat is not against a little visit to a place in Sussex as a one-off venue that will not feature regularly on the website. Preferred as compact sites or venues ..the following have at one time or other been ideal for personalised treasure hunts.
Herstmonceux Castle: If you can pronounce it (and even if you can`t) then this stunning place has the ideal grounds for a circular treasure hunt route.
Pekes Manor in Golden Cross. Check this place out. Last year was for a birthday treasure hunt with an Agatha Christe theme but it would be brilliant for a team building event too.
I could go on..Fair Oak Farm and Ghyll Manor were both neat settings for team building treasure hunts and a couple of Alpaca`s in the former.  Horsted Place  is another impressive place for a large family gathering and Friston Forest for a French students group.

And finally...well I haven`t even touched on Brighton treasure hunts yet, but they have their own blogs, so your next step is to contact me, Black Cat, on info@blackcattreasurehunts.co.uk or call me on 01323 655346.
